Audit Log
SOFiE manages a special log that traces all the file exchanges that occur.
This log focus only on the encryption/decryption and send/receive activity. It can be accessed in two ways:
-
by opening the file "log_audit.log" located in the folder "...\logs\" with a text editor.
We recommend to backup the log folder regularly in order to keep track of all your activities.
For example the logs could be useful if you are in disagreement with another participant
about a file exchange.
-
by the SOFiE GUI menu "Tools->Audit log: "

Tracking of File Processing
The audit log helps you to monitor the processing of files from reception through decryption and from encryption to sending.
It gives detailed information about errors that may occur during processing.
Some logs message examples are given in the next sections.
Reception and Decryption
-
The crypted file
SOFI.12072415395658.888810008.888810008 was successfully downloaded from
Sofie's server (with an akwnowledgment sent to the server).
Then, the downloaded file is decrypted into AFFRET.1948072337999_000586_12072414284681.DTA without error ("DEC").
In the log we can see the name relationship between the encrypted file, the original sent and the decrypted file.
In this particular case, we can see that the original file sent by the sender
(CCSS_03010800000000.AFFRET.1948072337999000586) has a different name than the one decrypted.

-
Here the crypted file
SOFI.12072415395658.888810008.888810008 was successfully downloaded.
However during decryption an error occurs ("!!! DEC") because a decrypted version of the file already exists in the output folder.

-
Here an error occurs during reception of the crypted file.
The error is due to a connexion issue to Sofie's central server.

Encryption and Sending
-
The file
RLAE.20120626170200.888810008 is encrypted into SOFI.12072415395658.888810008.888810008 without error ("ENC").
Then, the encrypted file is sent (uploaded) to Sofie's central server from where the adressee will download it with his own SOFiE client.

-
Here an error occurs ("!!! ENC") during the encryption of the file
RLAE.20120626170200.888810008 because the user (888810009) is not allowed to encrypt this type of file given his SOFiE contract.

-
Here an error occurs during sending of the crypted file.
The error is due to a connexion issue to Sofie's central server.
