SOFiE Unix/Linux Installation
Installation

Visit www.sofie.lu and click on "Installation":

Select the Unix SOFiE package and enter your User-Id and Password to start the download (TAR file):

Notice:
If you don’t have your login data, please check the SOFiE subscription procedure.

Copy the TAR file to its destination, and execute the UNTAR utility with the instruction:
uncompress sofie.verxyz.tar.z
tar -xvf sofie.verxyz.tar

The following components have been installed:

The latest JRE [TM] supported by SOFiE (Please refer to www.sofie.lu for the latest version.)

The SOFiE program
-
Update SOFiE with the "upd_sofie.ksh" script.

Start SOFiE using the "run_gui.ksh" script.

Please read the "Install.txt" file (in the tar) for the upgrade and installation notes.These are summarized

Please update your "upd_sofie.ksh" script with the new script

Replace the old lib folder by the new one
SOFiE Installation Notes:

The java executable has to be in the PATH.

Copy the "US_export_policy.jar" and "local_policy.jar" files to the
"$JAVA_HOME/lib/security" folder to get strong crypto support or download the files from Sun.

Copy the "charsets.jar" file to the "$JAVA_HOME/lib" folder to get EBCDIC
support

If you want to use JavaWebStart under Unix/Linux with SOFiE, add the "IAIK.cer" and
"JCE.cer" certificates to the JavaWebSart Certificate Store

Export the correct DISPLAY variable

Run SOFiE with the shell "run_gui.ksh" under ksh. When SOFiE is launched you arrive to the
login screen.

The script "bin/upd_sofie.ksh" can be used if you have wget installed to update the
jar files in the lib directory
