Password expiration

For security reasons, the user password expires after 90 days.
After 75 days a reminder message appears when the user logs in into the GUI.
The reminder displays the number of days left before expiration (for the last 48 hours the number of hours left is displayed).
After expiration, the access to the GUI main menu is disabled for the user whose password is expired. To unlock the access, the user must change his password.
When a new password is set, a new expiration countdown will start when the user will sucessfully log in into the GUI for the first time.

Notice:

The password expiration is enabled for Sofie versions 4.9 or greater.
When a password is expired, the batch mode continues to be fully operational.
Every user account (9999XXXXX) has its own password and therefore its own expiration cycle. The expiration of a user password doesn't affect the GUI access for the others users.

Expiration message

The various expiration reminder messages are presented here.
In most messages you can, either start the application, or change your password:

The access to main menu is disabled as long as the password has not been changed

Password change

After starting the application, enter your login and password then click on "Change password" button
Type your new password and confirm with

Don't forget to tick the box "Save encrypted password for batch processing" if you use the batch mode
If you password has been successfully changed, the following message is displayed:

After a password change, it is strongly recommended to make a backup (zip archive) of the following files and folders of your SOFIE_HOME:
- \cetrel\sofie\keys\ (folder)
- \cetrel\sofie\data\<user_ID>\passwords (file)
- \cetrel\sofie\data\<user_ID>\loginHash (file)
- \cetrel\sofie\properties\ (folder)
If you restore your data later, you will have to use the password set when the backup was done, in order to login in the restored application.

Notice:

If you suspect that someone else was able to access your password, modify it immediately
You cannot reuse one of the last ten passwords previously used. If you try you will see the message:

Inactivity time-out

When logged into the GUI, the session will be locked after a period of 15 minutes of inactivity (no mouse move or click) in the GUI.
During the session's lock, the following dialog box is displayed:

To unlock the session, enter your password and click
To exit SOFiE , click

Notice:
After three failed attempts to enter the correct password, the session will close automatically.
